Key Components
Drug-Free Workplace Policy ○ This written document is the foundation of the organization DFWP program. The policy should clearly state why the policy is being implemented, a clear description of prohibited behaviors, and consequences for violating the program. This document must be consistent with collective bargaining agreement.
Employee Education and Awareness ○ Awareness-raising effort and information for employees must clearly articulate the companies philosophy, policy and operational procedures. Critical element for acceptance of the program. Various options are available to ensure that your training is both efficient and effective:
§ Onsite Training - The training session is customized to your companies policy and delivers at your designated facility. This training session is designed to engage and educate your employees about the dangers of substance abuse.
§ Online Training - our interactive training course is a great alternative to onsite training. This course is approved by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and exceeds DOT requirement.
§ Train-the-Trainer - this training session prepares a member of your team to conduct the employee education and new-hire training. Participants are qualified to conduct training under our mentorship program. Training materials are customized for your company and ongoing support and assistance is available for 1 year.
§ Audio Cassette - alternative method of training for the on-the-go workforce, Your employees have the flexibility to listen to the audio recording, review the ancillary materials and complete the assessment test to ensure compliance.
Supervisor Training ○ This skill building session is designed to, empower and enable your supervisors to identify, document, confirm and confront a possible substance abuse problem. The training will review the companies Drug-Free Workplace policy and procedures, review roles and responsibilities; how to initiate reasonable suspicion testing; and common mistake and liability.
○ Our training focuses on common performance indicators and behaviors that suggest a problem. Substance abuse and performance problems must be taught by trainers with actual supervisor experience. Our trainers will exceed expectation and bring life to your program. Various options are available to ensure that your training is both efficient and effective:
§ Onsite Training - The training session is customized to your companies policy and delivers at your designated facility. The training includes the supervisor' core responsibility which includes monitoring job performance, staying alert to the key indicators consistent with drug and/or alcohol abuse/use.
§ Online Training – our interactive training course is a great alternative to onsite training. This course is approved by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and exceeds DOT requirement.
Drug Testing ○ The employer will be required to make decisions on a range of drug testing specifics: e.g. who will be tested, when they’ll be tested, when they’ll be tested for what drugs, what laboratory will be used… ○ Various options are available and need careful consideration based on local, state, and federal requirements
